Shirley Manson Kicks Fan Out Of Garbage Concert For Hitting A Woman

Garbage‘s gig in Atlantic City on Friday May 25 turned violent when in the middle of the band’s hit song “Stupid Girl”, a man began beating on a woman in the front row. After several punches were thrown, frontwoman Shirley Manson noticed the fight-in-progress, and stopped the group from continuing to demand that the assailant stop.

“Dude. Never hit a fucking woman. What the fuck is wrong with you, man?” Manson yelled at the attacker, who was then ushered out of the theater. The attacker reportedly claimed that the woman was the one who started the fight, to which Manson replied, “She started it? Oh, Jesus Christ, okay… We’re going to have like five people to play to by the end of the show.”

“I feel like there’s some bad karma in here,” said Manson, who then took the break to introduce her bandmates and to get the crowd riled up again. “You can’t fucking fight, man. You can’t fight,” she reiterated. “I’m sorry, that’s the rules man. We just need to all simmer down.”

Manson joins the ranks of other musicians who have stopped a show because of a fight in the audience. In July 2011, Foo FightersDave Grohl interrupted a performance in order to yell at and then kick out a fan for throwing punches, and Lady Gaga halted a 2010 Monster Ball show in Washington D.C. when she saw people fighting in her audience.

Let this be a lesson to all of you: if you have to fight, save the feuding for the parking lot, not the pit.
