Foster The People Take “Pumped Up Kicks” South Of The Border: Idolator Premiere

Foster The People have played their quirky smash “Pumped Up Kicks” for fans everywhere from the Saturday Night Live studio to Coachella, and after so many performances, the band is bound to want to spice it up on occasion. And for the band’s recent swing south of the border, that’s exactly what they did. Mark Foster & Co. invited a mariachi band (complete with trumpet and violins) to help perform the hit on stage in Guadalajara, Mexico, where their performance was documented for Ashton Kutcher‘s new Thrash Lab project. Watch the band’s rehearsal — in which Marks’ directions are translated for the mariachi players — below.

In just more than a week, we’ll see if the band has any surprises in store for their Bonnaroo performance.

In the meantime, check out the band’s pre-show adventures in the premiere episode of Rituals, the new series on Thrash Lab’s YouTube channel.
