Ciara To Drop New Album ‘One Woman Army’ And Single “Sweat”

Ciara‘s 2010 album Basic Instinct was far from the success the R&B songstress hoped it would have been — the LP peaked at #44 on the charts, and its singles barely made a dent on the Hot 100. The Atlanta artist is hoping things turn out better for her fifth studio album, which she revealed will be called One Woman Army. “This is the most vulnerable I’ve ever been in my life and career,” she tells MTV of her new LP, which includes many personal moments — and dance-ready tunes, of course. The lead single will be called “Sweat”, and according to the Ciara, “It could be coming anytime soon.”

The LP includes a song also called “One Woman Army”, and according to The Prophet Blog, it was written by Ali Tamposi (Kelly Clarkson‘s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”) and Livvi Franc (who has penned tracks for Clarkson, Britney Spears and Cheryl Cole).

“Right now I’m working on a Ciara album, and she’s been great,” Tamposi told BMI back in March. “It’s Livvi Franc and I who are doing most of the writing for it, and it’s been really cool and laid back so that’s been fun. There’s a lot of angst and edge in [Ciara’s] music and we’ve tried to be really conceptual and write things that haven’t been done before and real strong women empowerment songs.”

There’s no set release date for Ciara’s latest, though if her new label Epic is smart, they’ll release it on or near Black Friday so the album has a fighting chance of debuting somewhere higher than #44.

Ciara can next be seen in the Adam Sandler comedy That’s My Boy, in theaters June 15.
