When did Instagram become WebMD for pop stars? First Rihanna shared a pic of her arm hooked up to an IV, then Pink tweeted a photo of herself recouping from a bout of the stomach flu. Now Daniel Bedingfield has shared his trials and tribulations of sleep apnea. Perhaps there’s something oddly comforting about focusing one’s attention on selecting just the right filter to go with the self-portrait of your illness. Regardless, the Secret Fear crooner was not so secret about his diagnosis.

“So I guess I have sleep apnia and I’m going in to do a sleep study to find out why,” the handsome Brit tweeted to fans along with a shot (above) of himself in bed while hooked up to a ton of wires. He sarcastically added, “They’re banking on my ability to sleep like this. Um. Yeah.”

Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder. According to actual WebMD, “People with untreated sleep apnea stop breathing repeatedly during their sleep, sometimes hundreds of times. This means the brain — and the rest of the body — may not get enough oxygen.”
