Lady Gaga Possibly Responds To Madonna’s “Born This Way” Diss

Lady Gaga has remained silence on Madonna‘s supposed diss of her single “Born This Way” by mashing it up with her song “Express Yourself” on her current MDNA tour. We figured that Gaga saying nothing on the matter was her way to take the high-road, though could you really let Madonna shade pass by without saying something?

During her Born This Way Ball tour stop in New Zealand, the pop star took a moment (five minutes, to be exact) before launching into her song “Hair” to talk to the crowd about dealing with people who try to put you down — could it have been an indirect response to Madonna?

“It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves to put other people down or make fun of them or maybe make a mockery of their work,” Gaga said to her audience. “But, that doesn’t make me feel good at all. That just make me feel like I’m not being a good human being. I feel that if you’re a really good human being, you can try and find something beautiful in every single person no matter what.”

“And it’s a challenge,” she continues. “But at the end of the day I learned so much this year about that. I learned a lot about negativity. I learned a lot about people trying to tear you down. And I’m just not that person, and I never will be. And I don’t even wanna fight back. Because, it’s more important to me to keep writing music. Cause that’s all I really care about. My music.”

“I don’t have a fanbase that wants me to fight or bite or be shady,” she adds. “Or cunty. The way that we all used to be. We’re in a new place in society now, aren’t we? Things are really different now than they were 25 years ago and that’s what makes Born This Way so relevant for me. We’re just socially in a completely different place now. And I want you to know it’s okay: You don’t have to hate and slice each other anymore.”

Do you think Gaga’s comments are referencing Madonna’s seemingly critical cover of “Born This Way”? Or is she just spreading a general message of positivity to her fans? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.
