Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter Scores Lindsay Lohan Surf Movie

Daft Punk have lined up an impressive list of collaborators for their forthcoming album, but Lindsay Lohan is probably the most surprising name to get mixed up with the electronic act. Thomas Bangalter, one-half of the French duo, scored the music for a new short film starring Lohan, titled First Point, a creation between the actress, artist Richard Phillips and legendary surf filmmaker Taylor Steele.

According to a press release, the film “presents a postmodern take on the surf film genre through an abstract framework of imagery in which the actress engages in cinema performance tropes inspired by contemporary film noir.” Uh huh. That’s not actually Lohan surfing in the trailer above, as she used a stunt double. Perhaps her surfing skills are as questionable as her driving abilities.

First Point premieres this week at Art Basel in Switzerland. If you’ve already had your fill of Lohan-related antics this week, at least check out the trailer for Bangalter’s moody score.
