Jessica Sanchez Gives Inspiring Rendition Of National Anthem At NBA Finals

The National Anthem could possibly one of the most difficult songs to sing. With so many pop divas and rockstars taking a crack it and many times failing (like of these sad cases), everyone cringes at the ultimate fear that the singer will crack, or worse, mess up the lyrics. But for American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez, it was cake. Taking her spot in the middle of the floor at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Tuesday night (June 12) for the first game of this year’s NBA Finals, the 16-year-old vocal powerhouse gave a performance that could make LeBron James tear up.

Dressed in a leather studded frock, Sanchez put everything she had into the song without even breaking a sweat. Then again, the Idol alum is not a newbie to performing the anthem live. She previously sang it at the PBS Memorial Day concert last month. With a performance like that one, she can easily join Whitney, Beyonce and Kelly in the we-didn’t-mess-up-the-National-Anthem club — unlike last year’s runner up.
