Katy Perry‘s first single, “I Kissed A Girl,” was met with a bit of a backlash when it was first released in 2008; some parents found its lyrics unsavory for Top 40 radio. (That didn’t stop the song from going several times platinum and topping charts in several countries, though!) So how did Katy’s very own, very religious family react to the button-pushing track? In a teaser for her upcoming film Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D, KP’s dad reveals that yeah, he was just a little bit concerned — at first.

“I thought my ministry after 30-something years is over,” said Katy’s father, Keith Hudson. “But, you know what? Never had a problem.”

Katy explained in the clip: “I think people love the idea of ‘a good girl gone bad,’. And they think my parents have disowned me, but that’s not the story at all.”

What do you think of her parents reactions to “I Kissed A Girl?” Would you have done the same? Tell us on Facebook, Twitter or in the comments.
