After weeks of wondering when we’ll get to hear from American Idol winner Phillip Phillips again, he will be making his debut at the Fourth of July celebration on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Phillips is set to perform her post-Idol single, “Home.” The event, which will broadcast live on NPR and PBS, will also feature a number of celebrities like actor Matthew Broderick and even some U.S. Olympic athletes.

Phillips underwent kidney surgery on June 6 and is currently in recovering in hopes of being in top shape for the American Idols Live tour.

“I’m getting better each day, so that’s a good thing. I’m just walking around, getting my strength back together,” he told the AP. “It was tough, you know, those first few days, but I’m getting to where I can pick the guitar back up and write a little bit.”
