Billboard has teased it’s cover story on zeitgeist maven Carly Rae Jepsen with an excerpt from their interview with the “Call Me Maybe” singer. Actually, we’re not given too much online in the way of quotes from Carly herself — rather, the bit on the publication’s website focuses on the singer’s background, her rise to fame, when “Call Me Maybe was written (early 2011), etc.

But we do get this tidbit from Jepsen: “It’s been a cool day today. I ran into RedFoo from LMFAO at the airport, and we’ve been writing a song together today. Over the phone.” The mind, it spins over what sort of cellular concoction these two chart-topping forces are weaving together.

Carly then discussed her newfound fame, now that “Call Me Maybe” has been #1 in the US for the past two weeks. “Pretty much every day, there’s a moment where I’m having to pinch myself and think, ‘When did this happen to my life?'”

The 26-year-old British Columbia singer, who placed third on Canadian Idol in 2007, added, “What I really love about music is that, despite all this craziness the creative process remains the same. And that same exciting feeling that I had before anybody knew me, when I was just beginning to work on ‘Call Me Maybe,’ is the same feeling I had today with RedFoo from LMFAO. You can sense the people who really have it are about writing that right word or that right melody to make it lift and make you feel that perfect emotion.”

Fingers crossed for some sort of “Call Me Sexy And I Know It…Maybe”-type hybrid jam. That would lift us to feeling some real emotions.
