Justin Bieber Clutches Guitar On Cover Art For Guitarless Next Single, “As Long As You Love Me”

Did the designer of the cover art for Justin Bieber‘s second Believe single “As Long As You Love Me” never get around to listening to the song? Produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and Lindal, the Big Sean-featuring banger is the closest thing to dubstep to appear on the album, all hypnotic builds, staccato vocal loops and throbbing bass drops. So why, oh why, is Justin perched on a wooden stool, holding an acoustic guitar on the track’s key marketing tool? It’s a bit of false advertising for the high-fidelity track that has nary a strum within earshot.

Island Def Jam confirmed Tuesday (Jun. 26) that “As Long As You Love Me” would be the second single off Bieber’s record-breaking third studio album. It was originally used as a promotional track ahead of Believe‘s June 19 release, selling 168,000 copies during its first week and climbing as high as #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

We previously speculated that “All Around The World” would be tapped to follow up the Justin Timberlake-like “Boyfriend”, given how well its world dance vibe would work in the context of this year’s summer Olympic games. (And our fingers are still crossed that it will emerge as single #3 … how else will we be able to justify anointing it as a contender for 2012’s Song of the Summer?)
