Whether or not you think Song Of The Summer contenders Maroon 5 are “overexposed” or not doesn’t really matter to the band — they did a gig for the Today Show‘s Toyota Summer Concert Series this morning anyway. Adam Levine and the rest of the band were decked out in all white while churning out hits like “Moves Like Jagger” and “Payphone”. Why, you ask? The better to show off Levine’s arm tatts, silly!
“This was maybe the most fun I’ve ever had making a record,” Adam confessed to Matt Lauer on the Plaza stage while discussing new LP Overexposed. He then noted the heartache beneath the glossy pop sheen of the band’s hit songs. “There’s some pain in there somewhere. It’s part of it. I think it should be a prerequisite. You shouldn’t have to be sad to write a good song, but sometimes it helps.”
