Lauryn Hill Pleads Guilty To Tax Evasion, Faces Three Years In Prison
Lauryn Hill took to her Tumblr a few weeks ago to explain — at length — why she didn’t pay her taxes for several years. Unfortunately, her paranoid reasons linked to her anti-consumerism beliefs were not good enough to keep her out of trouble with the government. The singer has pled guilty to three counts of “intentionally and willingly” failing to file tax returns for the years between 2005 and 2007, where she earned $1.8 million. She faces three years in jail, and could also owe $75,000 in fines.
Hill was released on $150,000 bail, and will return for her sentencing hearing in November. [TMZ]
