‘Katy Perry: Part Of Me’ Didn’t Even Come Close To Opening Haul Of ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’

America loves the music of California Gurl Katy Perry, as evidenced by her seven chart-topping singles on the Hot 100. But Katy Perry, the silver screen draw? The box office results for her 3D Part Of Me concert documentary show that she’s not quite there yet. The flick’s four-day haul (it opened last Thursday) was roughly $11.2 million — a tad less than its $12 million production budget, and far lower than the opening three-day receipts for Justin Bieber‘s similar Never Say Never ($29.5 million) in February 2011.

Perry of course had summer blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man to compete with. Still, Part Of Me came in at a lowly #8, behind such holdovers as Madagascar 3 (which has been out for five weeks now), Magic Mike, Brave and Ted. Were you wide awake enough to see Katy’s cinematic escapade over the weekend?
