Florence’s Machine has shut down. Florence Welch is the latest artist forced to cancel a series of upcoming performances after doctors ordered her to go on vocal rest.

“I’ve sustained a vocal injury and been told I cannot sing for a week,” she wrote on her band’s website. “Seriously I felt something snap, it was very frightening… I am so so sorry. I’m so sorry to all the fans, I was desperate to still perform, but was told without question not to, so as not to do permanent damage… I hope I can make it up to you in the future.”

Florence + The Machine‘s performances at the Benicassim Festival in Spain on Thursday and the Optimus Alive fest in Portugal on Saturday have been cancelled. Her next scheduled show is July 20 in British Columbia. Hopefully Adele can give her some tips on how to magnificently bounce back from a vocal injury.
