Twain kicks off her Caesars Palace residency in Las Vegas on December 1, with dates to follow in March and April 2013. When she first announced the string of gigs however, she had not performed in front of a live audience in five years. The reason why, as Oprah Winfrey found out: Twain was diagnosed with dysphonia — a condition in which muscles squeeze and restrain the voice box.
Fortunately, Twain will soon be able to make up for lost time — and, perhaps, money. Celine Dion, who even makes a brief appearance in the commercial, racked in $19 million as Caesars Palace’s most recent resident — earnings notable enough to earn Dion a spot in Forbes‘ list of the “World’s Most Powerful Women.”
