Last month 98 Degrees made their reunion official by announcing their addition to the lineup for the Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania on August 18. But it looks like it won’t be just a one-off for the quartet, as they’re now scheduled to perform on the Today Show the day before the festival, on Friday, August 17. A press release issued today adds that the four members of 98 Degrees are in the studio working on new music. “With so much to celebrate, this reunion is going to be one big party, so whether you tune in to the Today Show or join us at the MixTape Festival, everyone’s invited,” the band stated.

This news comes one week after Backstreet Boys — who now have original member Kevin Richardson back in the fold — announced they’d be taking part in Good Morning America‘s Summer Concert Series in August. (Oh, and by the way, Backstreet are doing the Mixtape fest, too.) Do we sense a rekindled rivalry brewing, gentleman?
