The Killers’ “Runaways” Video: Watch

The Killers made a serious bid for a comeback last week with new single “Runaways”, and the sad tale of a doomed marriage now has quite an eye-popping video to go along with it. The clip, directed by Warren Fu, has Brandon Flowers and his bandmates plunked in front of a dark backdrop, with movie-like scenes of rolling clouds, roads stretching into the night and star-filled skies occasionally lighting up behind them.

The clever use of minimal lighting keeps all eyes focused on the band as they tear through the lead single from Battle Born (out September 18) with gut-wrenching abandon. By the end of the clip, the quartet are glowing red and rendered mist-like while they jam, just like the stumbling, hall-wandering ghost described in the lyrics. All in all, a rockin’ return for one of America’s greatest bands to emerge from the previous decade.
