Last month you got to know Kitten via our New & Notable feature on the up-and-coming Los Angeles synth-pop band. And while frontwoman Chloe Chaidez revealed then that her musical tastes cover everything from classic rock to melodic ’80s pop, we decided to check in with her to see what current music had her ears tuned in this year.

“My favorite album of 2012 would probably have to be the new Japandroids record,” Chaidez tells us in the video clip above. “[Kitten is] not necessarily like Japandroids at all but I’m really into their new album.” She also discussed her penchant for The Weeknd, and R&B music in general. “That’s something that has been starting and has blossomed in 2012. And I think it will continue to blossom in 2013.”

So does this mean we can expect some smooth grooves from the L.A. band’s output in the future? Until we find out, watch Chloe discuss her favorites of this year above.
