Move Over, Willow — Jaden Smith Unleashes New Rap Video “Pumped Up Kicks (Like Me)”
You didn’t really think we’d get away without both Smith children becoming hip-hop superstars, right? While his 11-year-old sister Willow Smith‘s debut album Knees And Elbows remains somewhere in music purgatory, Jaden Smith, the 14-year-old son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith and sometimes-collaborator of Justin Bieber, has released a rap video. Of course.
In the clip, Jaden spits rhymes about girls over Foster The People‘s 2011 hit “Pumped Up Kicks” as his pals kick-flip into rail-slides, tearing up an indoor skatepark. Jaden manages to channel his father’s Fresh Prince era throughout the vid, both with his fairly adequate flow and his over-the-top animal-print pants, which could have been lifted from the wardrobe closet on “Parents Just Don’t Understand.”
Smith promises a “cooltape” — apparently that’s what all the cool kids are calling mixtapes now — by September. Smith Family domination is happening, whether you like it or not.
