We all just met Carly Rae Jepsen this year, and this is crazy, but the Canadian songstress now has 2012’s longest-running chart topper on the Billboard Hot 100. With nine weeks spent on top, “Call Me Maybe” has officially surpassed the eight-week reign of Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used To Know” to become this year’s pop leader, as far as the chart goes. However, Billboard notes that “Somebody That I Used To Know” is the undisputed sales champ, as it just crossed the six million paid downloads mark. “Call Me Maybe” currently stands at about five million.

Meanwhile, if you’re wondering how Carly Rae’s second US single, the Owl City pair-up “Good Time”, is faring, it slipped from it’s peak position (so far) of #13 to #14 this week on the Hot 100. Jepsen’s just-announced album Kiss is due out September 18. Think “Call Me Maybe” will still be at #1 then?
