Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” Loses Top Spot On Hot 100 To Flo Rida’s “Whistle”

The Carly Rae Jepsen reign is over (for now) on the Hot 100. The Canadian pop star’s hit song “Call Me Maybe”, which has sat at #1 for the past nine weeks (making it the year’s longest running single to top the charts), has lost its coveted spot, with Flo Rida‘s thinly-veiled reference to oral pleasure, “Whistle”, taking its place. Carly’s ubiquitous song falls to #3, with Ellie Goulding‘s “Lights” sandwiched at #2.

“Whistle” marks the Miami MC’s third time topping the Hot 100, after his 2008 smash “Low” and 2009’s Ke$ha-assisted “Right Round”. We hope he enjoys his time at #1, since we’re all but certain that Taylor Swift will be spending some quality time at the top of the charts next week with the inevitable success of her new single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” [Via Billboard]
