Green Day are going big in 2012, releasing three albums, two documentaries, and a career-spanning box set, all in the next six months. Now the band has reached the final frontier — having their own specialized version of Angry Birds, which includes 10 never-before-seen themed levels, and features new bad pig characters inspired by band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool. Fans who play the game can also unlock a new track, “Troublemaker”, off the first album in the group’s upcoming trilogy, ¡Uno! (out September 25).

Green Day – “Troublemaker” (Preview)

All of the band’s new material we’ve heard so far (“Oh Love” and “Kill The DJ” particularly) sounds more in line with their side project, the 60s-inspired Foxboro Hot Tubs, than anything from Green Day proper.

However, we can’t help but hear shades of 21st Century Breakdown track “Horseshoes & Hand Grenades” in “Troublemaker.” In fact, did they just reuse the exact same hook? And is it possible to pay homage to yourself?
