Grimes’ “Genesis” Video: Is That Britney Spears’ Snake?

Grimes, one of Idolator’s Top Women About To Pop in 2012, hails from Canada, but you’d think she just landed from outer space in her balls-out crazy video for “Genesis,” a single off her album Visions. In the self-directed clip, the 24-year-old indie-pop artist hangs with an odd assortment of people — a woman in suggestive full-body armor and pink braids flashing some serious diva moves in particular — as well as a snake that very well might be Britney Spears‘ long-lost “Slave 4 U” companion. (As Brit recently discovered, his name is Banana, and he’s alive and well, so it’s quite possible that Grimes cast the exact same show business reptile.)

The video is said to be inspired by “Hieronymus Bosch’s painting The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things as well as by fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier and Jamie Hewlett’s Tank Girl creation,” reports NME. We didn’t get any of that, except we did realize that we want Hollywood to remake Mad Max with an all-female cast.
