Earlier today at Central Park —as in, “doors” opened at 6 a.m. — fans raided Central Park to check out The Wanted and scream hysterically whenever a member glanced in their general direction.

The Good Morning America Summer Concert Series hosts grilled the Wanted members to get their impression of the United States (essentially: we like big portions and waving our American flags) and, perhaps more importantly, to gauge their hopes to win a MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist. Just the other day, member Max George wasn’t as certain about clinching the coveted statue.

“I think One Direction will win. That is my prediction,” he said to Associated Press. The Wanted are also facing off Carly Rae Jepsen, Frank Ocean and fun. in the category —  formidable contenders for sure.

In related news, the Wanted also let slip that they’ve been working with LMFAO. “Real, real, cool guys, and their production on tracks is just insane,”  Nathan Sykes said to MTV. “They’ve just been off to Brazil and they came back with all these new fresh sounds; it was cool working with them. I’m not sure if the sounds are a bit too wild to go on this album, but it was a great experience.”

What do you think the Wanted’s chances for a VMA? Let us know in the comments below, or on Facebook and Twitter.
