Alicia Keys is days away from performing “Girl On Fire” at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6, and to ratchet up the excitement she has released “Girl On Fire (Blue Light Version).” It’s a slower, hazier take than the “Inferno” version featuring Nicki Minaj that we heard earlier this week. The song’s structure is the same, but gone is Minaj, gone are the piano plinks and gone are the martial drums. Instead, faint bass drops and a hushed drum machine float along as Keys turns out a more emotional performance. Hear the song after the jump, and see if you can decide which version you’d like to see her perform at the VMAs (we couldn’t).
