J. Cole has been playing a new track called “I’m a Fool” during live performances for a few months, and now he’s premiered the studio version. The song finds the North Carolina native showing off his verbal dexterity over a prominent sample of Cee Lo Green‘s “Fool For You.” The lyrics have Cole reflecting on, among other things, a very timely issue: the high cost of education. Listen to the full track below.

“I’m a fool, hundred thou to go to school/So much debt me and my mama damn near drowning in the pool,” Cole raps over the jazzy beat. Unfortunately, he alleges it may not have been money well spent. “So I finally graduated, but I’m sad to say it/I ain’t learned a f***ing thing except the game and how to play it.”

Sharp, thoughtful lyrics and a slickly produced instrumental courtesy of Cole himself? Call it an A+.
