Naughty tease Missy Elliott has performed her Timbaland collabs “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat” live, but today we finally get to hear the recorded fruits of the pair’s labor. Both tracks find the longtime pals asserting themselves in light of their absences from the pop landscape in recent years. “Guess who back, yep, I’m the best / I’m that chick ’cause I’m a triple threat,” Missy reminds listeners on “Triple Threat.”

Meanwhile, on “9th Inning,” she raps, “Every time I spit a rhyme it’s a sick flow, you newcomers better take note.” Do the songs themselves live up to the self-hype? Give them a spin below and decide for yourself.

Way back in February, Timbaland stated to MTV that the plan was for both his and Missy’s albums to have coinciding release dates. “Me and Missy are both coming with our albums at the same time, and it will be in June,” he said. “Right now, we’re preparing to get both our videos, our first singles, shot kinda at the same time. We want to do it as a movement and spontaneously.”

Obviously the month of June came and went with no new music from the two, and we’re still not sure when Elliott’s Block Party — her first LP in seven years and counting — is due out.

Do these two new cuts at least have you eager to check the album out once it finally does arrive? Let us know below, or by hitting us up on Facebook and Twitter.
