Leona Lewis has had more than her share of “Trouble” with the campaign for her third studio album, GlassheartHer first single, “Collide,” got caught up in a very public tangle of litigation with producer Avicii, and then the album’s release was pushed back multiple times. Now that the LP is finally secured for an October 12 release date, hopefully things will turn around for the diva. If the title track is any indication, Glassheart has potential to be massive. Head below to hear the song in full!

Departing from the melancholy melodrama of her Emeli Sande-penned, Childish Gambino-assisted lead single “Trouble,” new offering “Glassheart” is a dance-inflected tune that’s radio-friendly but not derivative, with production courtesy of Ryan Tedder (who helmed her breakout hit “Bleeding Love”) and Fraser T. Smith. Transcendent house beats on the chorus ground Lewis’ delicate vocals as she sings, “Promise that we’ll never fall apart/And I’ll love you with my glassheart,” before that euphoric instrumentation collapses into a grimy dubstep break.

Leona Lewis — “Glassheart”

We say “Glassheart” is an auspicious return to form for the 2006 UK X Factor winner, and arguably the first thing she’s released that could actually rival “Bleeding Love” for hit potential.
