One Direction‘s music video for “Live While We’re Young” arrived a bit prematurely, much to the delight of impatient Directioners across the globe. And in the saucy clip, MTV Video Music Award winners Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson pile on top of each other in a tent, wave a giant banana around, hop in a swimming pool and, naturally, take part in a bit of wet t-shirt singing and dancing. Naughty! So is this vid any good or what? Head below for our roundup of what the critics had to say — and then let us know what you thought of “Live While We’re Young”!

:: The Los Angeles Times calls the song a “characteristically peppy piece of high-gloss party pop.”

:: The Prophet Blog quips, “Crafted by ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ dream team Savan Kotecha, Rami Yacoub and Carl Falk, the single follows exact the same sunny pop-rock style as the group’s first album. The only real difference is that now the boys are singing about getting laid… The boys also up the sex appeal in official music video, which features the same outdoorsy ‘lads just wanna have fun’ concept as all their other videos, but with the added bonus of extra muscles and wet t-shirts.”

:: Entertainment Weekly adds the following: “The video, meanwhile, kind of looks like Moonrise Kingdom as shot by a member of Katy Perry’s lollipop brigade. Notable moments include glowstick campfire dances, inflatable pool splashing, four wheeler racing and an unfortunate blonde streak in Zayn’s hair.”

:: MTV Buzzworthy points out that 1D have served up “every bit the adorably raucous music video we expected from the boy band prankstas (especially after those wet and wild on-set snaps). What we didn’t expect, though, is that we’d ALSO get a rare glimpse at the dudes with their hair UNSTYLED. I mean, this is the group that came to their VMA rehearsal with stage-ready hair.”

:: Newsday is all about the balls: “Yes, here are the lads of One Direction in their new video ‘Live While We’re Young,’ which kind of looks like a Target commercial as they cavort in a swimming pool and roll around in those huge plastic balls that used to be the domain of only Peter Gabriel and the Flaming Lips.”

:: Socialite Life is over the moon for the lads’ latest: “I love that they make sure to do their signature walk towards the camera while singing. It just wouldn’t be a One Direction video without that. The boys seem to have taken a cue from the Carly Rae Jepsen handbook with lyrics like, ‘I know we only met, but lets pretend it’s love.'”

:: Similarly, Crushable is crushing hard on the video: “…now that I’ve seen it, I can say that all the rumors I heard about God sprinkling a little extra magic glitter on it are true. Between the cinematography and the plot, I’m sure this will be the music video that we’ll be talking about for days. Maybe even years. I mean, if this doesn’t define the phrase, ‘here comes the boom,’ then I don’t know what does.”
