When Madonna called Barack Obama a “black Muslim” on stage during her Monday night concert in Washington D.C., she was just being ironic. Oh, Madonna — your humor just has a way of going over our heads.

The video of her rant, which showed her praising the fact that we have a “black Muslim” in office, caused such a media frenzy that Madonna had to respond to the controversy through her spokesperson: “I was being ironic on stage,” she explained. “Yes, I know Obama is not a Muslim – though I know that plenty of people in this country think he is. And what if he were?… The point I was making is that a good man is a good man, no matter who he prays to. I don’t care what religion Obama is – nor should anyone else in America.”

Well said, Madge. Now we can go back to bantering about Nicki Minaj‘s political leanings.
