The Killers today (September 28) made their daytime television debut on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, performing “Runaways” and “Mr. Brightside.” It may have been unfamiliar territory for the Vegas quartet, but Battle Born‘s epic tale of love-on-the-run sounded right at home. And with each “baby” and impassioned “ruuun” wail, Brandon Flowers continues show that over the course of the band’s four albums he has transformed from a faux-British New Wave brooder into a commanding rock vocalist.

Check out the soaring “Runaways” up top, and watch them show they’ve still got that post-punk swagger with the angsty classic “Mr. Brightside” after the jump.
