Tegan & Sara Perform New Single “Closer” On ‘Conan’: Watch
Canadian indie duo Tegan and Sara are undergoing an impressive pop makeover, having teamed up with Greg Kurstin (who produced Kelly Clarkson‘s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and Pink‘s “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)”) for their new single, “Closer,” a shimmery alt-pop dance gem that might be their most mainstream track to date.
For the pair’s debut TV performance of the song, they joined Conan O’Brien on his nighttime show. Sure, it looks like the same old Tegan and Sara, with unpretentious styling, low-key production values and lovely harmonies, but the track’s hook and instrumentation point in the direction of pop radio airplay and crossover success.
