Bad news, Beyhive: Beyonce is pulling out of her hotly anticipated remake of A Star Is Born, to which she’s been attached for years. (Literally — since January 2011.) In a statement to E! News, she claims that scheduling conflicts proved the kiss of death for her involvement with the latest remake of the seminal musical, which was slated to be directed by iconic director and empty-chair-debater Clint Eastwood.

“I was looking forward to the production of A Star Is Born and the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood,” Beyonce said. “For months we tried to coordinate our schedules to bring this remake to life but it was just not possible. Hopefully in the future we will get a chance to work together.” Reportedly, Bradley Cooper was in talks to play opposite Beyonce in the film, but he’s not officially attached, and as for other stars, Eastwood says that they won’t be addressing casting until next year. Not that we want to reignite that old Dreamgirls drama, but those Weight Watchers ads can’t be keeping Jennifer Hudson too busy. Just sayin’.
