Kanye West’s “White Dress”: Hear A Snippet Of His New Track

A snippet of a new Kanye West song has been released, and it’s a departure from the high-concept sound of his G.O.O.D. Music compilation Cruel Summer — “White Dress” is straight-up vintage Yeezy. Taken from the soundtrack for the upcoming film The Man With the Iron Fists, which is written and directed by RZA, West’s contribution takes the form of a jazzy track, which sees the rapper spitting rhymes over a soul-inflected beat.

The hook — “I seen you in the club in a tight dress / But I picture you in church with a white dress” — was previewed by RZA several weeks ago, while this snippet goes deeper into the dynamics of the relationship, evoking ‘Ye’s older style with a delivery that’s more reflective than aggressive: “You the type of girl that deserve a new last name / But they never let us do our thing / Everybody lyin’ on who I banged.”

“White Dress” is bound to spark endless speculation that West’s lyrics are about his relationship with Kim Kardashian, although admittedly, changing her last name would probably have an adverse affect on her brand identity. Keeping Up With the Kardashian-Wests doesn’t have quite the same ring, does it?

The soundtrack for The Man With the Iron Fists drops October 23, but expect the song to leak in full before then. Hear the snippet below:
