It’s no secret that Barack Obama and Jay-Z are tight. The “Empire State of Mind” rapper recently put together a video showing support for Obama’s reelection, and to repay the favor, the President gave the new father of Blue Ivy a little family advice.

“I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out [with the baby],” Obama said in a radio interview with Cleveland’s z107.9. “And not leaving it all with mom and the mother-in-law.” It isn’t just anyone who could tell Jay-Z to step up at home. But when the President himself tells you to change your share of the dirty diapers, you listen. Hear Obama’s thoughts on Bey and his favorite Jay-Z song after the jump.

“I’ve gotten to know these guys over the first several years,” the President said of his pals. “They’re good people. They’re down to earth. Beyonce could not be sweeter to Michelle and the girls. So they’re good friends. They really are down-to-earth folks. We talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends.”

It’s too bad “99 Problems” isn’t one of Obama’s faves, because the idea of the President rocking out to that is pretty amazing.
