Taylor Swift continued her Red promotional tour last night (October 23) with an appearance on the Late Show With David Lettermanand for once, nobody tried to trick Taylor into talking about her romantic life!

Instead, she covered a handful of topics, including politics: “I feel like at 22, it’s my right to vote, but it’s not my right to tell other people what to do,” she said diplomatically, to which Letterman countered, “But as you grow older, you realize that the dumb people around you are growing in number, so you have to tell them what to do.” Wise words, Dave.

Swift also told a charming little story about getting into two car accidents in one day while being interviewed for Rolling Stone (probably happens all the time) and was typically self-deprecating about the experience. Most importantly, though, she promised Letterman that she would write a song about him — so long as he promised not to then write her an email with the subject line, “Thoughts?”

After the interview, Swift delivered another lovely rendition of her album’s title track “Red.” Watch it up top, then see her full interview below.
