It’s a sad day for fans of 90’s R&B — Blaque‘s Natina Reed (pictured left in cover art) could not be revived after being struck by a car in Atlanta.

Blaque formed in the late 90’s and had several hits around the turn of the century, alongside other R&B girl groups like Destiny’s Child and TLC (which, of course, also lost one of its members too soon). Blaque also had starring roles in the cheerleading comedy Bring It On, as the Toros’ rival group the Clovers.

Billboard named them the 4th best new act of 1999. “Bring It All To Me” hit #30 on 2000’s year-end chart.

Blaque formed and unformed multiple times throughout the 2000’s. In July of this year, Blaque performed “808” at the Left Eye Festival (in honor of TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who was also killed in an auto accident and was a mentor to Natina before her passing). There they announced their return as a group, which tragically won’t happen now with Natina as a member.

Natina Reed was struck by a car while crossing the street in Atlanta early today. Tomorrow would have been her 33rd birthday.

She has a 10-year-old son with Kurupt and is survived by Blaque members Shamari Fears-Devoe and Brandi Williams.

She is being mourned by her group mates, Bring It On costars, and the music industry at large on Twitter.
