It’s been rumored for months that British girl group The Saturdays would be storming stateside shores with a formal US launch and a reality series on E!, but now it’s official: On Ryan Seacrest‘s radio show this morning, he premiered a brief clip of their debut US single, the Sean Paul-assisted “What About Us,” and announced that the reality show is a done deal.

“2012 has been a British invasion,” Seacrest explained. “Boy bands hailing from the UK like One Direction and The Wanted — but it’s time for girls to get involved. The Saturdays are an all-female group who are already massive stars in England with 11 top 10 singles and three #1 albums under their belt, but they’ve got their eye set on conquering the United States of America — on the radio and on TV.”

Seacrest told listeners that the band’s reality show documenting their quest to break big in the US, Chasing the Saturdays, will premiere January 20, 2013 at 10pm on E!.

While cross-Atlantic stardom has proven elusive for a lot of established British artists, the recent British invasion does seem to have made a new space in the market for more acts like The Saturdays to break big in America — and a high-profile reality show with backing from Seacrest certainly can’t hurt.
