Indeed, Alicia Keys is heating up. Keys scored her second Billboard cover story this week, ahead of her fifth album Girl on Fire (out November 27), and in the November 10 issue, Keys and others explain how new voices and experiences informed the new album. “That’s the most personal song Alicia has done. She has a very emotional way of delivering a song,” Peter Edge, RCA CEO, said of opening track “Brand New Me.” “But on this album she has dug deep, become more confessional and personal versus talking in generalities. It’s a very big step in a new direction.”

While Keys’ last album, The Element of Freedom, featured Beyonce and Drake as guest vocalists, Keys has enlisted even more new and new-to-her voices for this record, including Nicki Minaj, Maxwell and Sande, age 25. But last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, she simply appeared as a captivating solo performer. Watch the Jimmy Kimmel crowd raise their fists to “Girl on Fire” after the jump.
