Whatcha Say: Christina’s ‘Lotus’ Leak & Nicole Westbrook’s “Thankgiving” Got Readers Talking

Over the past week, Christina Aguilera‘s new LP Lotus leaked, while we typed up a defense of her previous album, the much-maligned Bionic. Ke$ha also premiered her video for “Die Young,” and we offered up our poll for readers to vote on the best album of the year. Meanwhile, move over, Rebecca Black — newcomer Nicole Westbrook arrived on the scene to take that terrible viral video crown with her holiday offering “It’s Thanksgiving.”

Now head below for our weekly roundup of what you had to say about this pop tom-foolery!

:: Alsy woo-hoo’d on In Defense Of Christina Aguilera’s Bionic, As She Readies The Release Of Lotus: “Wow I really enjoyed this especially the last line, ‘but it will more likely be remembered as a guilty pleasure than a misunderstood masterpiece.’ Well done Idolator and props to the writer.”

:: Kara also thought we were spot on with our assessment: “I’ve actually argued this is exact point. Bionic didn’t fit in the time it was released and would have faired better either a year earlier or a year after. The timing issue is a big one, as the general ADHD feel of it could be overlooked (since, arguably, most pop artists today have very erratic sounds….look at Rihanna and tell me I’m lying). It’s not a bad album, but it wasn’t good either. I think it was fun and is definitely a guilty pleasure. This was a really good article.”

:: @MartinLieberman was thankful for Nicole Westbrook’s “It’s Thanksgiving” Is Already The Greatest Song Of All Time: “Uh oh. Adam Sandler no longer lays claim to the best Thanksgiving song ever…”

:: danny also chowed down on the stunning video: “woah oh oh aye aye woah oh oh it’s thanksgiving! Awesome lyrics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And is she really singing with a turkey leg!!????!! OMG AWESOME.”

:: Jack felt K$’s new clip was jacked on Ke$ha’s “Die Young” Video: Watch Her Get Sexy As A Cult Leader: “They reaaalllly needed to go a little easier on the post-pro fx (like A LOT easier). From the looks of it, there was some pretty good orignal footage, unfortunately I couldn’t see any of it through the faux 3D red & blue, the geometric fragmenting, and the laser shapes. RE-EDIT PLZ”

:: Brian Scott T. exercised the democratic process on Vote For The Best Albums Of 2012 (Part 1): January Through June Releases: “I think the two best albums from the start of the year to June belong to Lana Del Rey and Fun. Fun. has worked so hard to get where they are and they deserve all the success because their lyrics and production are top notch. Same goes for Lana. People criticized her for her SNL performance but that does not change the fact that she released an album with some of the most mesmerizing, confusing, beautiful, depressing, and overall brilliant songs. If Justin Bieber wins this poll it was be a sad day.”

:: Meanwhile, Alice was in wonderland over a different album: “Adam Lambert’s TRESPASSING is in a class by itself, a planet by itself. Adam’s masterwork takes us on a whirlwind trip through the emotional highs and lows of his life. Brilliantly woven together into a soulful, heartwarming, footstomping blend of shades and hues, textures and tempos, TRESPASSING is a peerless musical adventure. Adam’s innate ability to relate to others with passion and compassion and his remarkable vocal and emotional range make this album a breathtaking, addictive work that seems to take up residence inside you.”

:: ptizzy sent a few people into a tizzy on Christina Aguilera’s Lotus Leak: Hear Standout Track “Let There Be Love”: “This is a rehash of Madonna’s Get Together from Confessions on a Dancefloor. I love Christina so much and I’m buying this album to support her, but she can do better. This is only marginally better than ‘Your Body’.”

:: For instance, Vidal…: “Your ass sounds like get together. We don’t need you to buy an album just out of pity. I can buy two of them or three including yours”
