Not that it’s possible to really get sick of Taylor Swift, but we were beginning to tire of watching live performances of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” — and then, lo and behold, Swift made our dreams come true by switching up her game when she took the stage at The X Factor last night. Performing a gorgeous rendition of her Red opener “State of Grace,” Swift owned the stage amidst a backdrop of glittering golden lights — and she sounded more comfortable singing the track, which is a better fit for her vocally than “Together,” than she has throughout the Red era.
If Swift was testing the waters to see if “Grace” would work as a proper single, she probably got the response she was looking for: The crowd was eating it up. A golden age of something good and right and real indeed. Watch up top.
