Rihanna has plenty of reason to celebrate this week, and not just because she’s no longer trapped on a plane with 200 disgruntled journalists and stans: Her latest single, “Diamonds,” went to #1 on the Hot 100 this week, giving the Bajan chanteuse her 12th (!!) #1 hit. Not that anyone’s counting, but that record ties her with Madonna and The Supremes for the fourth-most chart-toppers in the history of the Hot 100 chart, behind only The BeatlesMariah Carey and Michael JacksonThat seems like fairly decent company to keep, right?

According to a report from Hits Daily Double, her new LP Unapologetic, which hit retailers this week, is also tracking to be her first album to hit #1 on the Billboard 200; although official data won’t be available until next week, first-day sales suggest that she’ll move between 240,000 and 260,000 copies of the album, which should edge her into the top spot.

Say what you will about that Rihanna reign, but it doesn’t appear to be relenting anytime soon. Not that any of the wearied, haggard journalists who just wrapped her 777 Tour will have much interest in writing about it.
