Taylor Swift Gets Theatrical With “I Knew You Were Trouble” At The 2012 ARIAs: Watch

Taylor Swift‘s evolution into a pop superstar was completed in her performance at the 2012 Australian Record Industry Association awards (they’re like the Australian Grammys), where she delivered a performance to rival her memorable set at the 2012 American Music Awards: That is, bombastic, over the top and impressive.

While her version of “I Knew You Were Trouble” at the AMAs was masquerade-themed, “Trouble” at the ARIAs seemed inspired by a big musical theater production — she sported a varsity jacket and used spray paint to tag the guys who are trouble (spoiler: they’re all trouble). It was fun, it was retro and there were hair flips. Like, lots and lots of hair flips. That’s pretty much all you need to know.

It’s refreshing to see her turn out such earnest acoustic performances of the song and then give a high-octane performance just a day later: She’s become equally adept at both styles. Watch the video up top.
