Rita Ora helps Glamour UK kick start the new year by posing for the mag’s January 2013 issue. Dressed in an ultra-feminine Christian Dior dress for her cover, Jay-Z‘s protege opts for a soft pink lip instead of her signature bright red pout. Of course the ORA siren couldn’t care less what we think as she explains to the women’s magazine, “I’m not interested in other people’s opinions about my clothes. I don’t believe in this idea that you have to look a certain way to be famous.” Below, the Brit reveals what it was like to meet Beyonce.

On the first time she met Beyonce: “She was my idol and suddenly there we were, sitting down together. She was the nicest, gentlest, most humble woman. There’s something really calming about talking to her. She gave me the best piece of advice anyone’s ever given me about this job – ‘Keep your family close.’”

On artists whose time is cut short: “What happened to Amy was such a tragedy, but you know what I think? That some people…deserve to be in a better place than anyone else. Those people are so great they can’t even be on Earth.”
