Paramore have promised that their forthcoming self-titled album (out April 9) finds them exploring new sonic territory and serves as their “rediscovery” of the band itself. Based on the one-minute preview of lead single “Now,” the band’s sound has certainly matured from the crunchy emo of yore.
What first stands out is the fevered snare attack, along with squealing post-punk guitars spiraling over vocals hidden deep in the mix. It’s high drama that sounds more like Explosions in the Sky than Paramore — until Hayley Williams‘ “Now-ow-ow” chant comes in. ”Now” is out January 22 on iTunes but we want to hear it RIGHT NOW.
