When Destiny’s Child stepped into the spotlight at the 2001 NBA Finals, they passed on elaborate sets and special effects, and instead used a red circular stage (like a basketball) and enlisted two backup dancers as opposed to the army they normally have. While the performance was pretty spot-on (per usual), Philadelphia 76er fans were not too pleased with DC’s costume choices, which they felt favored the Los Angeles Lakers more. Despite reports of booing from the audience, DC held their ground and gave a knock-out performance.
