Lady Gaga Finally Brings Born This Way Ball To North America

Lady Gaga had no shortage of surprises last night (January 11) when she delivered the opening night of her Born This Way Ball, the North American edition. Rolling Stone reports that the Gaga was as visually arresting as ever, dipped in glitter and surrounded by medieval fanfare. The show clocked in at over two hours, starting strong and ending even stronger.

While the Ball was initially being touted as an “Electro-Metal Pop Orchestra,” Gaga decided to one-up that description in Vancouver. Arriving on a mechanical horse, Gaga ushered in 25 songs (including two encores). Highlights included the obvious “Born This Way” along with early hits like “Just Dance” and “Paparazzi.”

She closed the set with an a cappella rendition of “Edge of Glory,” followed by “Marry The Night.” Gaga will perform again at the same Vancouver venue, Rogers Arena, this evening. She tweeted in the wee hours of the morning, “Tonight’s Vancouver show. I’m still up. I can’t sleep. You were such a passionate crowd.” Let’s hope Mother Monster gets some rest before climbing back on the metal horse tonight. Her tour reaches the US on January 14 at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington.
