British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is getting ready to hit the road with Taylor Swift, opening for her on her Red tour beginning in March. It’s by far the biggest string of shows in Sheeran’s young career, so you’d think he’d be completely preoccupied making sure it all goes swimmingly. Nope! Sheeran has much bigger plans, telling Billboard he hopes to finish writing new songs and recording the bulk of his sophomore album while on the road.
“I’ve got around 26 songs for the next record, and I’ve got another nine months on the road to keep writing as well,” he said. “It will probably come out in February 2014, and I’m gonna be recording and writing it over the whole Taylor tour.” Comparing it to his debut LP, which was written in his late teens (he’s now 21), Sheeran says album number two will be “more developed.” Check out the whole interview here.
