If One Direction’s lack of Grammy noms this year seems familiar, it’s because the Grammys have long failed to recognize the merits of boy bands. Case in point: Backstreet Boys’ boisterous 1999 hit “I Want It That Way” (which is now stuck in your head after reading the title, right?). Like their predecessors in New Kids On the Block, Backstreet Boys never scored a golden statue. But, then again, neither did *NSYNC.
